A 'Walker'
Lemmings started life as a simple animation back in August 1989. One day, Mike Dailly created the 8 by 8 pixel 'Walkers' on his Amiga. These Walkers are now very well known as Lemmings. There's been much debate over the choice of the hair color of the lemmings. Originally they had blue hair. The colors were selected, not because they were the easiest to choose, but because of the EGA palette.
The original level editor was built around the Deluxe Paint interface. It was incredibly easy to use, and being built directly into the game it allowed for a very quick turn around on level creation.
The Amiga version took advantage of the Amiga's ability to support two mice simultaneously so players could play against eachother.
