Commander Keen: Marooned on Mars
Late one night in 1990, when John Carmack and Tom Hall were working on a new EGA engine for a side-scrolling game Carmack finally accomplished what he had been working on for quite some time, smooth scrolling using EGA. Commander Keen is the first game that supported both horizontal and vertical scrolling on an IBM PC.
While Commander Keen is exploring Mars, the Vorticon steal four vital components of his ship and hide them in Martian cities, each guarded by a Vorticon soldier. In this episode, Keen acquires his trademark pogo stick and meets a variety of Martian aliens and robots.
