Space Quest IV: Roger Wilco and the Time Rippers
About 5 years after playing The Pirates of Pestulon, I bought it's sequel: Roger Wilco and the Time Rippers. I was always wondering what happened to Roger Wilco, after leaving planet Earth in the Aluminum Mallard.
In this episode Roger Wilco returns to his home planet, only to find out that an infomorph of Sludge Vohaul is chasing him in an attempt to finally kill him. When he's attacked by the heavily armed soldiers, a mysterious stranger saves him and sends Roger to Space Quest XII: Vohaul's Revenge.
What's new in this game is the hand painted VGA graphics, a full mouse-driven interface and motion capture animation. Altough this game is still designed by Mark Crowe and Scott Murphy, these big changes always made me think this game was a bit different than the previous games. I think the EGA graphics from Space Quest III looked better than the VGA graphics in this game. Luckily you can still travel back to Space Quest III in the time pod.
Also new in this game is the extraordinary narration from one of the most experienced in the business: Gary Owens. There's lots of humor in his lines, especially when using the smell and lick buttons, which are only in this game to create funny responses. The two guys from Andromeda really prefered to use a text-based parser, just like the previous games.
This red planet is where we meet the employees from Scumsoft who are working at a make-shift research station, monitoring the seismic activity.
Ortega is a volcanic world with a high amount of seismic stress. It has one moon, Pestulon. Visits without Thermoweave Underwear or other protective gear are not recommended - death will be instantaneous in some areas, although you may survive a few minutes at some of the cooler parts.

Planet Ortega is the lava covered planet that Roger Wilco visits in Space Quest III. His short stay there involved the use of Thermoweave Underwear and blowing up the Pirates' shield generator. He also briefly visits the planet in Space Quest IV in an easter egg! This red planet is where we meet the employees from Scumsoft who are working at a make-shift research station, monitoring the seismic activity.
