Prince of Persia 2: The Shadow And The Flame
The Shadow And The Flame takes classic Prince of Persia action and combines it with diverse and detailed environments. You will be visiting several places in Persia, starting from the harbor, the beaches and later on a complete abandoned city. In your adventures you'll fight guards, skeletons, medusa heads, snakes, birdmen and other characters.
There are times where Prince 2 really feels like a worthy sequel of Prince of Persia 1, such as in the Birdmen Fortress. But most of the time, Prince 2 is even more of a challenge than the first part. It requires more precise timing, and there are a lot more enemies and hidden dangers.
What keeps this game interesting throughout are the suprises you find everywhere which make the gameplay varied and rewarding. Also, sometimes you'll find screen with such great artwork that it makes beating the nightmarish challenges in this game worth it. There are cutscenes throughout the game, which tell the story in a catchy way, with beautifull images.
Unfortunately there are some parts in this game where the challenges are frustratingly difficult, or sometimes plain impossible to solve. There is a bigger emphasis on combat and sometimes you'll be surprised when 2, or even 3 enemies will fight you at the same time. It can be frustrating trying to find out every part of the level, and suffering death countless times before you understand how it works. You'll need a lot of patience or you'll loose your mind!

The Princess and the Sultan stare at him. "Princess, why do you look at me so strangely?" "How dare you speak to the Princess?" "Guards! Seize him! Seize him!" "Don't hurt him!" "He's just a poor mad beggar." "After him! Don't let him get away!" "Don't worry my dear, he won't get very far."

The Story
In ancient Persia, there lived a Sultan who had an only daughter whose beauty was like moonrise in a clear heaven. Now it happened that the Sultan left his kingdom to fight in a foreign land. In his absence, the Princess fell in love with a young traveller who climbed the palace wall to see her. This did not please the Sultan's Grand Vizier Jaffar who meant to marry the Princess himself. Seizing power, Jaffar had his rival thrown into the dungeons but the young man escaped and struck down the evil magician. When he learned of his Vizier's treachery, the grateful Sultan offered riches but the stranger requested just one reward.
